Successful Airlift Operation on Welsh Coast
A collaborative rescue mission in Pembrokeshire successfully airlifted a person in need of medical assistance from a coastal path.
A major rescue operation took place on March 7, 2026, in Pembrokeshire, where a person was airlifted from a coastal path at Swanlake Bay. The individual was reported to be suffering from hypothermia, prompting a swift response from multiple emergency services.
The Tenby RNLI launched two lifeboats shortly after 9:10 AM to assist in the rescue. Upon arrival, they coordinated with HM Coastguard, Dyfed-Powys Police, and the Welsh Ambulance Service to provide immediate medical support.
Due to challenging surf conditions, it was determined that a sea extraction would be too dangerous. Instead, a coastguard helicopter was requested to safely transport the casualty to a nearby ambulance.
The helicopter landed on the beach, allowing paramedics to load the casualty and transport them to safety on the headland above. The lifeboats returned to their station in Tenby by 11:25 AM, marking the successful conclusion of the operation.
