Experts Provide Nutrition Education for Children and Adolescents
A collaborative effort in Cyprus focuses on essential nutrition education for mothers and their children.
In a significant initiative, the Cyprus Turkish Child Protection Institution (KTÇEK) partnered with the Cyprus Turkish Mother and Child Health Association (KTAÇS) to deliver vital nutrition education to mothers regarding their children and adolescents.
The training sessions took place on March 2 and 6, 2026, at the KTÇEK Event Center in Nicosia, targeting parents of children and adolescents aged 10 to 19.
During the first session, Assistant Professor Dr. Cangül Tuncay Arnavut discussed the importance of adequate and balanced nutrition in children, particularly focusing on obesity, while Assistant Professor Dr. Nazife Hürer Bulunç addressed the significance of nutrition for children with poor appetite.
The second session featured discussions by Dr. Bulunç on the relationship between hormones, growth, and nutrition during the school years, and Associate Professor Dr. Taygun Dayı emphasized the importance of sufficient and balanced nutrition in preventing obesity during this critical period.
This educational program aims to empower parents with knowledge to foster healthier eating habits among children and adolescents, thereby contributing to their overall well-being.
